Perfumes and their mystery
Smell is a very powerful sensory reception. It can bring back so many memories and make you nostalgic. There are vanilla scents that have a girly appeal to it; citrus that brings out fruity flavours and men’s perfume that could remind you of a special relationship with a certain someone.
The different kinds of perfumes
Perfumes can come in a variety of concentrations. The ones high on the radar are those with more perfume oils and less alcohol. They are high-end perfumes made with exceptional ingredients.
Parfum
Parfum is a French word which happens to have the highest concentration, making them long lasting. The smell can linger for as long as 8-10 hours! Due to their high quality of fragrance, ranging in about 20-30%, they are quite an extravagant purchase. Those with skin allergy issues can do away with cheaper brands and invest in Parfum. Some of the high end brands that deal in parfum include Versace, Pleats Please Montreal and Cartier.
Eau de Parfum
This comes second in line in relation to concentration quantity. They have about 15-20% of fragrance and can easily last for a few hours. Although it is lower on the barometer, Eau de Parfum is still a whole lot better than the regular perfumes, especially catering to those with sensitive skin. The alcohol in this is still relatively less.
Eau de Toilette
This has a substantially lesser concentration of fragrance than the first two. They can range anywhere between 5-15%. As the quality recedes, so does the price. This works a lot cheaper and last for about two to three hours. The term Eau de Toilette is derived from the French term “faire sa toilette” which basically means getting ready. It still is one of the most popular types of fragrance available in the market.
Eau de Cologne
This has a far less concentration of fragrance, as low as 2-4%. Due to the less amount of fragrance, it is overly compensated with alcohol. The smell only lasts for a good two hours or less. It requires more usage so they’re sold in bigger bottles.
Eau Fraiche
This is the lowest on the index with even lesser fragrance of about 1-3%. It has about the same effectivity as Eau de Cologne in concern with how long the scent lasts. It is mostly mixed with water and not alcohol, making it a safe choice.
