YOUR GUIDE TO CHROME POWDER NAILS
Mirror Chrome Powder nails are the new trend. Shimmery and glittery nail polishes have become a thing of the past. It is the mirror-like nail paints that have taken over. If you have been planning to get them done from your Nails A More, then here is all that you need to know about this latest trend.
What is chrome powder?
Chrome Powder has been around for quite some time, but only recently have they become quite the trend. It comes in a loose powder which is quite similar looking to loose glitter eye shadow. This is then applied on top of a no-wipe gel top coat. Once you have rubbed this powder on, you will slowly see the gel polish changes underneath it. It begins to turn into a super high shine Mirror chrome effect which is shiny. As long as this has been applied with a no wipe gel top coat, you can easily put acrylic extensions, gel extensions, or even gel nail polish. The best part about chrome powder nails is that they look great on nails of all shapes.
How long does it last?
This is a very important question. Once you have applied it on gel polish, it would last for about two weeks.
What is the importance of the topcoat?
Whenever you are getting chrome powder, it is important to have a great topcoat. Otherwise, you won’t be able to get the true Chrome effect you have been looking for. You can use a gel topcoat that has a sticky layer. But this will be an extra step as the chrome powder won’t stick to the surface, so you will first have to remove the sticky layer. Get a lint-free wipe to remove it till you get a shiny surface.
How to do chrome powder nails?
The very first step is to apply gel nail polish followed by a no-wipe top coat. Once you have done that, you don’t need to remove any sticky later as it is a no wipe topcoat. Take the sponge eyeshadow applicator and dip it into the powder. Don’t take too much of it, and moderation is always key. Then rub this powder onto the nail and get it to every corner without missing any bits. Keep on rubbing gently till you see a mirror shiny effect appearing. Follow these steps on all the nails. After that, take your no wipe top coat and apply it to all your nails. Cure the nails for about a min under the LED lamp or 2 minutes under the UV lamp. Brush off all the excess around the skin, apply some cuticle oil, and rub it in circular motions. If, in the end, the nails aren’t giving the high shine that you wanted them to, you shouldn’t consider putting nail varnish on them. Under no circumstances can you apply nail varnish above chrome powder.
