Six ways to get summer-ready skin
Whether Summertime is just around the corner or a few months away, you can do plenty of things to boost your skin, from using the right products to getting regular treatments.
Below we explore six ways to get summer-ready skin!
Exfoliate regularly
Exfoliation helps to remove dead skin cells and give you a healthy glow, and it also allows your moisturiser to penetrate deeper, giving you better hydration. There are two main types of exfoliation: physical and chemical.
Physical exfoliation uses scrubs or brushes to remove dead skin cells mechanically. Chemical exfoliation uses acids to dissolve the glue that holds dead skin cells together. Both types of exfoliation can be beneficial, so choose the one that works best for your skin type. For example, if you have sensitive skin, you might want to stick with physical exfoliation.
Whatever type of exfoliation you choose, make sure to do it gently and not more than once or twice a week. Otherwise, you could end up irritating your skin. With regular exfoliation, you’ll indeed have smooth, summer-ready skin in no time.
Moisturise, moisturise, moisturise
Hydration is critical for healthy, summer-ready skin. Be sure to use a light, non-greasy moisturiser that won’t clog your pores. Apply it after cleansing and throughout the day as needed. If you tend to get oily, look for a moisturiser that’s oil-free or labelled “non-comedogenic.”
Also, don’t forget about your lips! Apply a lip balm or Vaseline to keep them hydrated and protected from the sun. Consider Rudolph Care with its wide range of skincare treatments.
Protect your skin from the sun
Sun exposure can cause damage to your skin, so be sure to protect it with sunscreen or clothing when you’re outdoors. Rudolph Care has a wide variety of sun care products to explore. A wide-brimmed hat is also a good idea if you spend extended periods in the sun.
Stay in the shade and reapply sunscreen every two hours or after swimming or sweating. It’s also a good idea to avoid the sun during the peak hours of 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Choose the right sunscreen
Not all sunscreens are created equal. When choosing a sunscreen, look for one with an SPF of 30 or higher that provides broad-spectrum protection, which means it protects against both UVA and UVB rays.
Also, choose a water-resistant sunscreen if you’re sweating or spending time in the water. And remember, even using sunscreen, you should still limit your time in the sun.
Eat healthy foods
Summertime is the perfect time to focus on eating healthy foods that will help you get summer-ready skin. After all, what you put into your body shows up on your skin. So, ditch the processed foods and refined sugars, and load up on fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and lean protein instead.
These nutritious foods are packed with vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants that can help to improve your skin’s texture, give it a healthy glow, and protect it from damage. In addition to eating healthy foods, be sure to drink plenty of water to keep your skin hydrated.
Get enough sleep
We all know the importance of getting a good night’s sleep. Not only does it help to improve our mood and energy levels, but it also gives our skin a chance to repair itself. However, getting enough shut-eye during the summer can be challenging.
The longer days and warmer temperatures make it tempting to stay up late, and the heat makes it hard to drift off at night. As a result, many people find that their skin suffers during the summer months, Breakouts become more frequent, and existing blemishes become more aggravated.
To help combat these challenges, it is important to prioritise sleep during the summer months. Aim to get at least seven hours of sleep each night to help your skin to stay healthy and summer-ready.
Manage stress levels
Stress can wreak havoc on your skin, so find ways to relax and de-stress. When stressed, your body produces cortisol, leading to breakouts, dryness, and premature ageing. So how can you keep your stress levels in check? One way is to limit your caffeine and alcohol intake and ensure you’re eating a balanced diet.
